Sad News – Demise of Mrs. Kathrine Methikalam

KatherinWith profound grief and deep sorrow, we inform you the demise of Kathrine Methikalam (78), wife of Joseph Methikalam and mother of Dr. Blessy, (Blessy’s husband Dr. George Chacko), Dr. Bindu, and grand mother of James, Joseph and Jessica.  She passed away yesterday (3/14/2017) afternoon. Dr. Blessy and Dr. Bindu are our CCD teachers.

We express our deep-felt condolence to Jose Chettan, Blessy, George, Bindu and all other family members. Let us pray for the departed soul, and for all the bereaved family members!

EFICP Charity Distribution / EFICP Soup Kitchen visit

EFICPOur second phase in the distribution of charity, from the funds collected through EFICP 5K Run will take place this month. We are planning to give $ 4,000 each to the below listed two charities in the Philadelphia area:

1. Covenant House: The Covenant house shelters young adults from ages 18 to 21 who are faced every challenge imaginable — physical abuse, sexual abuse, violence, Parents who can’t care for them because of their own addiction or mental health issues. Parents who won’t care for them because they don’t approve of them. It is situated in German town area.

2. Bethesda Project: The Bethesda Project manages a mix of city shelters, church-based shelters, transitional houses, overnight cafes and other forms of housing for the formerly homeless. It is situated in South Street area.

Soup Kitchen: Missionary sister of charity:  This Sunday, March 12, 2017, and Friday, March 17, 2017, we are sending two groups, each of consisting of 7 volunteers, to work in a Soup Kitchen in Norristown. The work at the facility will start at 8:30 AM and everything will be over by 12:00 PM. (You will have to start from the northeast at around 7:00 AM.) So far, we have spent approximately $28,000 towards charity, first two phases combined. The Charity were beneficiaries were Sunday Breakfast, Back on my feet, Women of Well (through city of Philadelphia) an individual homeless and a surgery situation, Covenant House and Bethesda Project and Missionary Sisters of Charity.
